└This program presents a role-play situation in which you are asked to act as interpreter for a written communication between an English- speaking person and a native of the foreign country.
Translate the words of the English speaker as accurately as possible.
The computer will comment on your input as far as this possible and scan for common errors, but not every type of response can be analysed.
The programme can be used for individual work, but an even better procedure is for students to work in pairs or in groups with a dictionary available and to discuss possible input in order to
'beat' the computer.
Help with accented characters and with vocabulary is obtained through the HELP menu.
÷Help your friend Robert to write to his French girl-friend Solange-
-------------------
Dear Solange
When I think that we haven't seen each other since the 6th of January on the occasion of my birthday, and that we are already in May, it makes me feel ashamed.
But you know how I am caught up in my work, and time passes
at lightning speed.
What would you say to a day spent together on Sunday 15th June?
You would come for lunch at the house first, and in the afternoon
we would go for a walk , if the weather is fine, and perhaps
we might finish the day by going to the theatre in the evening.
Write to me soon, Solange, to confirm whether you accept the invitation.
Looking forward to hearing from you, Yours, Robert
